Meet the Pacers

Capital City Marathon Pace Team 2012

We’ll keep you smiling and on pace!

Look for the bright yellow pacer shirt as shown on right. Special thanks to Olympia Orthopaedic Associates, P.L.L.C. for providing our shirts!

Club Oly Running organized pace groups for finish times: 3:20, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45 and 5:00.

The Capital City Pace Team is a group of experienced runners who will help set the pace for runners at the marathon distance for the race. Not only will we help you reach your goal finish time but we will offer encouragement and advice. As a coach we will keep track of the time, as a friend we will share our running experience, and as a mentor we will remind you when to run smart and not hard. But most importantly it is your race experience and we want you to enjoy it!

Many thanks to our local Trader Joe’s for supporting the pace teams with their generous donation!

We would also like to thank South Sound Running for their continued sponsorship and Capital City Marathon Association for the opportunity to support such an event!

My favorite food to have the night before a race is Italian. When I’m not training or racing I enjoy volunteering or just cheering at races with my son and friends. I love my work! For years I’ve been known to have a gut of steel – so I’ll eat anything and everything – even shots of tequila and beer during a race! I am a pack runner – would die of boredom if I didn’t have my running buddies. Nothing gives me greater pleasure then helping people achieve their goals. When I’m not running you can find me rockin out in the Valley Indoor Cycling Studio. My goal is to run a race with my husband this year – I’ll just have to make sure it ends in a beer garden to motivate him. -Anne

Christie and Dave

My favorite post race food is Hawaiian Pizza. My favorite race was the ING New York Marathon with Ironman Canada in a close second. My marathon PR is a 3:34. I am training for another Ironman race this summer so my hobbies are limited to running, cycling and swimming!!! If I have any down time it’s spent with my family kayaking and golfing.-Christie

Christie Agtartap, Dave Molenaar, and Josh Owen

I run mostly ultra marathons, but will also like to do core building with 5 and 10k races sprinkled into the mix. Makes things spicy! I run hard but play hard also and love to reward myself with a tasty beverage, IPAs my favorite! My favorite race foods are potato slices dipped in salt and Oreos and Payday bars. Most of all I love to run because of the great support you have from friends and even people you don’t know running on the trail or road. It’s a universal common bond that keeps you going. -Dave

With four marathons and one 60-mile ultra under my belt, I am an experienced runner with the ability to keep a pace and offer assistance to others. My favorite way to spend the weekend is to run with new found friends. If you want to get me talking, ask about ways to improve your running or ask about mountain climbing. -Phil

I started running to cross train for my other athletic love of Irish Step Dancing and West Coast Swing Dancing. I ran my first half marathon at Capital City and my first full marathon at Portland. Meeting people is the best part of running. I have been running with Club Oly Running for 2 years in August. They have been inspiration and continuing support. -Karen
